Joseph R. Brown Heritage Society
Our mission is to collect and present through exhibits, publications, and a specialized research library, the interlinked cultural and ecological stories of the entire Minnesota River Valley and the history of Joseph R. Brown, 19th century entrepreneur and statesman and Henderson town founder.

Our membership requirements are the payment of annual dues. We have 90 – 120 members from year to year.

Board of Directors meets every 3rd Saturday. The Annual meeting is the 3rd Saturday in November all at the J.R. Brown Minnesota River Center – 2nd floor of the Community Building at 600 Main St. in Henderson.

We participate in Henderson Heritage Days, Fall in the Valley, Memorial Day Celebration, Sauerkraut Days, Community Garage Sale, and other various events.

Our goal is to create and ever expanding Minnesota River Valley “Story Telling Center” of continuing value to youth, educators, Henderson residents, tourists and River Valley residents, and to facilitate cooperation among similar organizations especially between Mendota and Mankato.

Our accomplishments include: creation of the 1st phase of J.R.B. Minn. River Center through remodeling and development of core exhibits, establishment of “working relationships” with organizations in the Valley, Minnesota Science Museum, University of Minnesota, and several state agencies.
