Ladies Tourist Club
(General Federation of Women’s Clubs, largest group in the U.S.)
Organized September 16, 1898, the purpose of this club was to pursue a study of topics of interest (foreign countries educational topics etc.). Today the club’s purpose is civic as well as cultural.

There are 9 members that meet the 2nd Tuesday of the month from September through May at various members’ homes.

One goal at present is to finance the third publication of the Henderson Then and Now history book.

A small sampling of the many accomplishments of this club include: celebrating 106 years of participation, helped to organize the Sibley County Historical Society in 1946, in 1949 petitioned the city to open a public library (which they have since supported very generously), organized and staffed the Bloodmobile since 1979, help to fund many educational endeavors in the community, and provide numerous educational programs.
